Scare tactics are prevelant out there and a lot of the time there are agenda's at foot. The fragrance one makes me laugh a lot, because some don't even know about perfumery in the sense of fragrance compounding and what is used etc. Like how there are expensive fragrances for use in products and there are cheap ones. The expensive ones generally have finer notes and are used for cosmetics, the cheaper ones are what I call rough and very unrefined to the nose, these are for more commercial purposes like cleaning products.
I had a fragrance oil specially manufactured for me the other day as we will use it as part of a base for one of our fragrances and I asked the perfumer if he could give me a list of natural items which were in it. Here is a list of just some of the ingredients.
Boronia Absolute, Cananga oil, Carrot Seed oil,Cassie Absolute, Galbanum Resinoid, Iris Concrete, Iris Concrete Robertet, Iris Floraline,Jasmine Floraline, Labdanum Absolute, Mimosa Absolute,
Oakmoss Absolute,Sandalwood oil,
Vetivert oil, Bourbon
Violet Leaf Floraline, Violet Leaf Hyperessence, YlangYlang oil Bourbon. There are many more components to this and no wonder the fragrance oil was very expensive. I know that there are a natural ingredients in a lot of my fragrances but half the time the perfumer will not disclose anything due to the fact that it is proprietory. I could talk on this forever but I won't.

As to the question on my blog. Yes you can shrink wrap CP, but it must be cured well in a drying room to ensure the product doesn't sweat with temperature changes inside the wrap. You need to experiment and see what happens with time to ensure your formula, amt of time drying, shrink wrap film (some does breathe) etc work together.

I have found during the years of soapmaking not to take 100% notice of what some say as the only way to do things. Find out all things for yourself through experimentation, this way you will be the best you can be.

A lot think they are the experts because they have been making soap longer than others, or because they have produced more than others. Some say there is only one way to do things. This makes me laugh, how boring.

Eg: A soapmaker could make the same type/style of soap for 30years turning out millions of bars over that time. Does this soapmaker know everything, no way. For this example they never experimented, never pushed the envelope with new ingredients, methods, colours, soap styles. One may say, but they have so much experience and look at how much they have made or produce. Yes that is true, but only in their field. eg: Change their working environment from a cold climate to a hot humid tropical one and the whole way of producing changes. Change the volumes needed to be made, ie the pour or mould size to massive, it all changes once again. So in essence experiment, experiment and forever keep growing and evolving.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
